Three Memphis Gang Members Plead Guilty to RICO Charges
Three members of the 'Young Mob' or 'Young Mob Military' gang in Memphis, Tennessee, have pleaded guilty to Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy charges, along with other offenses including robbery, firearm death, and drug crimes. Paul Nelson, also known as 'Big Paul' or 'Paul Walk,' 33, pleaded guilty to armed Hobbes Act robbery, using a firearm to cause death during the robbery, and conspiring to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine. He admitted to the May 13, 2023, robbery of Tug’s Casual Grill in Harbor Town and faces a life sentence. Edgar Smith, 40, known as 'Chuck P' or 'Chucky,' and Cedric Jackson, 35, known as 'Ced,' both pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy charges, with their roles involving acts of robbery and attempted robbery. Smith also conspired to distribute fentanyl. Both Smith and Jackson face a maximum of 20 years in prison. These pleas are part of a larger investigation that has led to federal charges against 20 individuals from the Memphis area.
