Telin and BW Digital Launch NCC Subsea Cable to Boost Indonesia-Singapore Connectivity
Telkom Indonesia's international arm, Telin, in collaboration with BW Digital, has successfully launched the Nongsa Changi Cable (NCC), a subsea cable linking Singapore and Indonesia. The 50-km cable, first announced in July 2024, is designed with 24 fiber pairs to provide over 1.6 petabits per second of new capacity between Changi and Batam. This infrastructure aims to enhance connectivity between data centers in both countries, supporting the growing demand for cloud services, AI, and data center interconnection. The NCC is part of Telin's broader Indonesia Cable Express (ICE) project, which plans to establish seven cable systems by 2028. The project underscores Batam's emerging role as a digital hub, with its data center industry growing 22% year-on-year, surpassing the national average.
