Illinois Department of Transportation Initiates Major Road Work in Winnebago and Ogle Counties
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has commenced significant road construction projects in Winnebago and Ogle counties as part of the ongoing Rebuild Illinois program. The construction, which began on May 1, involves sealing joint cracks and striping repairs on several major routes. These include Bypass U.S. 20 from Falconer Road to Simpson Road in Rockford, Business U.S. 20 from Bypass U.S. 20 to Weldon Road in Rockford, Illinois 64 from U.S. 52 to Illinois 26 in Ogle County, and Illinois 70 from the Pecatonica River to Safford Road in Rockford. The project is expected to cause daytime lane closures, which will be managed by flaggers, and is scheduled for completion by July 20. Drivers are advised to be cautious, adhere to posted speed limits, and remain alert for workers and equipment in the work zones.
