Known for his deep patriotism and community involvement, Werthman served in both the United States Navy during World War II and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as a railroad policeman for Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central, and Conrail. Werthman was actively involved in various local organizations, including the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, V.F.W. Post, and the American Legion. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was predeceased by his wife, Shirley 'Jean' Werthman, and other family members. His funeral services are scheduled for August 10, 2026, with military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit.
