Las Vegas City Council Approves Tiny-Home Community to Address Affordable Housing
The Las Vegas City Council has unanimously approved the development of a tiny-home community aimed at providing affordable housing options. The project, known as Sunridge on Searles, will feature approximately 50 custom tiny homes constructed on a 2.25-acre vacant lot. Accelerated Real Estate is leading the $6 million initiative, utilizing Boxabl materials for the construction. Boxabl, a Las Vegas-based technology company, specializes in factory-built, foldable modular housing. Each unit will be about 360 square feet and is expected to rent for $1,000 per month, including utilities. The development is seen as a step towards addressing the affordable housing crisis in Nevada, which requires an additional 78,000 rental units to serve low-income individuals, families, and seniors.
