Rep. Don Beyer Secures Democratic Nomination for Virginia's 8th District
Rep. Don Beyer has won the Democratic primary for Virginia's 8th Congressional District, securing his nomination for a seventh term. Beyer, who has served since 2015, defeated four challengers, including Lorena Bruner, Michael Duffin, Adam Dunigan, and Mo Seifeldein. Beyer received 67% of the vote, with his closest competitor, Mo Seifeldein, garnering 18%. Beyer has a history of political service, having been Virginia's lieutenant governor and an ambassador under President Obama. His campaign focuses on issues such as lowering housing prices, raising the minimum wage, and combating climate change. Beyer will face Republican Tony Sabio in the general election.
