African Union Peace and Security Council to Address Political Transition in Burkina Faso and Niger
The African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC) is set to convene a session to discuss the political transition in Burkina Faso and Niger. The session will include opening remarks by Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Permanent Representative of Uganda to the AU, and statements from Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security. The PSC aims to address the security, socio-economic, and humanitarian challenges in the Sahel region, with a focus on terrorism and governance issues. The Council has previously engaged with these countries through informal consultations and has established a Task Force to support Sahel countries in combating terrorism.
