Trails Reopen After Claremont Fire in Boise Foothills
Ridge to Rivers has reopened several trails in the Boise foothills that were previously closed due to the Claremont Fire. The fire, which burned over 6,600 acres, left visible scars across the landscape. Popular trails such as Crestline to Sidewinder, Fat Tire Traverse, and Freestone Ridge are now accessible, although some areas remain closed due to safety concerns. David Gordon from Ridge to Rivers noted that the fire destroyed signs, retaining walls, culverts, and a bridge. Efforts are underway to remove burnt structures and ensure safety, but full reconstruction will take years. Trail users are advised to respect closures and stay on designated paths to avoid unexploded ordnance.
