Jamie Raskin's Democracy Summer Mobilizes Teens to Challenge Republican Incumbent
U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin is spearheading an initiative called Democracy Summer, which involves mobilizing teenagers to support Democratic candidates in key congressional races. Recently, busloads of teens arrived in Easton, Maryland, to canvass for Dan Schwartz, a Democratic candidate challenging Republican Rep. Andy Harris. This effort is part of a broader strategy to engage young voters and flip Republican-held seats. Raskin's program, which began in 2006, has grown to include 1,800 participants across all 50 states. The initiative focuses on educating young people about political organizing and the importance of participating in the democratic process.
