U.S. Congresswoman April McClain Delaney Secures $1 Million for Garrett Regional Medical Center's Radiation Oncology Planning
U.S. Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, alongside U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen and representatives from U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks' office, has secured $1 million in congressionally directed spending for Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC). This funding is specifically allocated to support the planning and development of radiation oncology services at the medical center. The investment aims to expand access to cancer care for patients in Garrett County, Maryland, and the surrounding region. Currently, many patients requiring radiation treatment face significant travel distances to receive care. Mark Boucot, president and CEO of GRMC, expressed gratitude for the lawmakers' advocacy, highlighting the benefit of bringing radiation oncology services closer to home for the community. The announcement was made during a special presentation at GRMC, attended by local government officials, hospital leadership, medical staff, and community representatives.
