Comcast Agrees to $117.5 Million Settlement Over Xfinity Data Breach
Comcast has reached a $117.5 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit following a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 36 million Xfinity customers in October 2023. The breach involved the theft of usernames, passwords, contact information, and partial Social Security numbers. Affected customers can now file claims for compensation, with options for a flat payment of around $50 or up to $10,000 if they can document specific losses. The deadline for filing claims is August 14, 2026. Comcast has also agreed to provide identity defense services to affected customers.
