Wildfires Ravage Homes in Georgia and Intensify in Florida
Wildfires across the southeastern United States are intensifying, with nearly 50 homes destroyed in Georgia and numerous fires growing in Florida. According to PBS, Georgia's two largest wildfires have burned over 31 square miles, with additional smaller fires reported. The fires are fueled by a combination of drought, low humidity, and strong winds. In Brantley County, Georgia, the fire has expanded significantly, threatening more homes and prompting evacuations. Meanwhile, Florida is experiencing one of its worst fire seasons in decades, with 131 wildfires burning across 34 square miles. The National Weather Service warns that the fire danger remains elevated due to the dry conditions and breezy winds.
