Charlottesville Homeowners Claim Construction Damages Properties, City Deems It Civil Matter
Homeowners in the Monte Vista neighborhood of Charlottesville, Virginia, are reporting property damage due to construction by developer Stanley Martin. The construction, part of the Azalea Springs development, has allegedly caused significant runoff, leading to silt deposits on residents' properties. Despite a corrective action report issued by the City of Charlottesville, the city has informed residents that any property damage is a civil matter, leaving homeowners to handle legal costs themselves. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has confirmed the impact on Moores Creek and recommended completing an unfinished sediment basin to mitigate further damage.
