Parents of UCSB Rape Victim Urge Authorities for External Assistance as Suspect Remains Unidentified
The parents of a University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) student, who was allegedly raped and strangled near campus, are calling for additional law enforcement support as the suspect remains at large. The family, through their attorney, is urging UCSB officials to request assistance from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department to enhance the investigation. The incident, which occurred on May 10, has deeply affected the campus community. The victim and the suspect reportedly met at a party in Isla Vista, a college town adjacent to UCSB, and did not know each other prior to the attack. The university police department has defended its handling of the case, citing privacy laws that limit the disclosure of specific details.
