Nebraska Public Media Launches Dedicated Omaha FM Station to Expand Statewide Reach
Nebraska Public Media (NPM) has announced the launch of a dedicated FM station in Omaha, Nebraska, aimed at expanding its statewide reach. The station, KOOO, located at 101.9 on the FM dial, will begin broadcasting new programming that includes NPR news and conversation programs, as well as a diverse mix of music genres such as rock, blues, folk, and alternative country. This initiative is part of NPM's long-term goal to strengthen the connection between Omaha and the rest of Nebraska. The station was acquired for $1.2 million in accumulated donations, and its programming will be distinct from other stations in the NPM network. The launch is set for Monday, with the station featuring local news and weather updates, and coverage by Omaha-based reporters Jessica Wade and Molly Ashford.
