Severe Weather Strikes North Texas with Deadly Tornadoes and Winds
North Texas experienced a series of severe weather events, including deadly tornadoes and intense winds, over the weekend. The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-2 tornado occurred in the Runaway Bay area of Wise County, with peak winds reaching 135 mph, and an EF-1 tornado in the Springtown area of Parker County with winds up to 105 mph. The storms, which began around 4 pm on Saturday, lasted nearly 12 hours, causing significant damage and fatalities. The severe weather was triggered by a dryline to the west, which is expected to continue influencing weather patterns in the region. A First Alert Weather Day has been declared for Sunday, with the Storm Prediction Center highlighting a slight risk for further severe weather, including the possibility of large hail and strong tornadoes.
