Trump Family-Linked Resort in Albania Faces Protests Over Environmental Concerns
A large-scale coastal development project in Albania, linked to Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law, is encountering significant opposition from environmental activists and critics of the Albanian government. The project, which aims to transform an abandoned island and a nearby seafront into a luxury resort, is part of Albania's efforts to boost its tourism sector and support its bid for European Union membership. The development includes plans for hotels, apartments, villas, and a marina in the Narta Lagoon area, a wildlife reserve, and on the uninhabited island of Sazan. Environmental groups have raised concerns about the potential destruction of protected habitats, as the area is a crucial stopover for migratory birds. Protests have intensified following the release of a video showing an activist being forcibly removed by security personnel at the site.
