Brooklyn Hosts First Jamaica Day Parade Celebrating Jamaican Culture and Heritage
Brooklyn is set to host its first-ever Jamaica Day Parade, celebrating Jamaican culture and heritage. The parade will commence at 11 a.m. from Church and Ocean avenues in Flatbush, proceeding north along Ocean Avenue. The event will feature reggae music, dancing, and traditional Jamaican cuisine, with DJ Danglez, a Brooklyn native of Jamaican descent, as the star DJ. The parade coincides with Jamaica's 64th anniversary of independence and aims to highlight the rich cultural contributions of the Jamaican community in New York City. The event is organized by Bill Tinglin, who was inspired to create the parade after attending other cultural parades in the city.
