New Framework Defines Genomic Competencies for Oncology Nurses in Precision Oncology
Researchers have developed the Core Competency Framework for Precision Oncology, a new model designed to define the genomic skills required for oncology nurses and other healthcare professionals. This framework addresses the growing demands on the cancer workforce as genomic technologies, including multigene panels, liquid biopsy, transcriptomics, proteomics, and integrated multi-omic biomarkers, become increasingly integrated into clinical guidelines. The framework, detailed in a report in the journal eClinicalMedicine, was developed through a narrative review of relevant literature and expert consultation.
