Nearly Half of Minnesota Faces Severe Drought Conditions
Minnesota is experiencing significant drought conditions, with 45% of the state classified under severe drought and nearly 90% facing some level of drought, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The lack of rainfall this summer has led to lower water levels in lakes and challenges for farmers as they approach the harvest season. Despite these conditions, Dan Glessing, president of the Minnesota Farm Bureau, expressed optimism about crop yields, citing advancements in drought-resistant seed technology. The Twin Cities and other parts of Minnesota would require approximately 15 inches of rain over the next three months to alleviate the drought.
