Chelmsford Condos Condemned After Water Leak Damages Electrical Wiring
Residents of 19 units at Pickwick Village Condos in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, have been displaced after their building was condemned due to extensive damage from a water leak. The incident, which occurred on August 29, began with a fire alarm, leading to the discovery that flooding from a third-floor unit had compromised the building's electrical wiring, including its fire alarm system. Subsequent inspections revealed that the wiring was also not up to code, rendering the building unsafe for habitation. Chelmsford Fire Chief Gary Ryan stated that preliminary evaluations by the general contractor indicate an anticipated timeline of approximately six months to complete necessary repairs, restore essential services, and address all identified life safety concerns.
