Dillon Town Faces Budget Challenges Amid Financial Transparency Efforts
Dillon's acting town manager has initiated a review of the 2026 budget to adjust fund balances, revenues, expenditures, and transfers in preparation for the 2027 budget season. Former finance director Carri McDonnell has been hired as a consultant to assist with the project, aiming to ensure transparency and accuracy in town financials. The review revealed that the general fund is not balanced, with revenues projected to be $200,000 less than anticipated and expenses expected to increase by $230,000. Despite these challenges, the town has a starting fund balance that can cover the shortfall, although this is not a sustainable solution for future budgets.
