This incident has raised significant privacy concerns for users and the company. The issue arose when conversations shared through Claude's 'share' feature were indexed by search engines, making them publicly accessible. Users initially shared these conversations with specific individuals, but due to the lack of adequate protection from web crawlers, these conversations, which included sensitive information such as medical records and internal corporate data, were exposed to a wider audience. Anthropic has stated that the system is functioning as intended, emphasizing that shared links are not easily discoverable unless shared by users themselves. However, this incident highlights the potential risks associated with sharing AI-generated content online.
