Pennsylvania Governor Unveils $30 Million Plan to Enhance Traffic and Safety at Philadelphia Sports Complex
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has announced a comprehensive plan to improve traffic flow and safety around the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, which includes Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field, and the Xfinity Mobile Area. The initiative, costing nearly $30 million, aims to reduce congestion and enhance safety for fans and local residents. Key elements of the plan include the addition of a second left-turn lane from Front Street to I-95 North, a new entrance ramp to I-76 West on 7th Street, and the installation of 19 new 'smart traffic lights'. The plan also involves new signage and studies to further optimize traffic patterns. Construction of a new operations event center within the complex is also part of the project, with work already underway and completion targeted for 2028.
