The race, organized by Bud Denker of Penske Corporation and Erik Shanks of Fox Sports, has raised concerns about potential damage to historic and cultural sites along the route, including the National Gallery of Art and the National Archives. Despite opposition, the executive order allows the race to proceed without the usual public hearings, ensuring swift approval of all required authorizations.
