A Nashville judge has issued a rare order banning nine individuals from the Lower Broadway area, a prominent tourism district, following a crackdown on scammers targeting tourists. Metro police brought the issue to the courts after individual arrests failed to deter a group allegedly involved in fraudulent activities. Judge Steve Dozier established a 'safety zone' encompassing approximately 40 square blocks around Lower Broadway. The primary scheme employed by the alleged scammers involved pretending to sell clothing to gain access to victims' phones, subsequently initiating unauthorized money transfers. These conflicts have reportedly escalated to assaults. Five of the nine individuals named in the court order have already agreed to the ban, with additional hearings pending for the remaining individuals.
