Trump Administration Proposes $1.5 Trillion Defense Budget for FY2027
The Trump administration has submitted a $1.5 trillion defense budget request for fiscal year 2027, reflecting a significant increase in military spending. The budget supports the National Defense Strategy and includes a base budget of $1.1 trillion, with an additional $350 billion in reconciliation funding. Key allocations include $74.2 billion for Air Force research and development, focusing on the F-47 sixth-generation stealth fighter, and substantial increases in missile procurement for the Army and Air Force. The budget also emphasizes the development of space-based missile defense systems and the Navy's shipbuilding program.
