Anti-Nuclear Advocate Linda Pentz Gunter Challenges Nuclear Energy's Role in Climate Solution at Belchertown Talk
Linda Pentz Gunter, founder and executive director of the energy nonprofit Beyond Nuclear, recently argued against nuclear energy as a viable climate solution during a book talk at Belchertown’s Clapp Memorial Library. Gunter contended that nuclear power is too expensive, time-consuming, and risky to be an effective part of addressing climate change. She highlighted that prioritizing nuclear energy often diverts resources from renewable energy sources. Her book, “No to Nuclear: Why Nuclear Power Destroys Lives, Derails Climate Progress and Provokes War,” outlines ten reasons to reject nuclear power, including its cost, construction time, safety risks, radioactive waste, and reliability.
