Eisteddfod Festival Celebrates Welsh Culture with Music and Poetry
The Eisteddfod y Garreg Las, a major cultural festival in Wales, is celebrating its 850th anniversary near Cardigan. This event, known as 'Glastonbury on wheels,' features over 1,000 events and activities, attracting an estimated 150,000 visitors. The festival includes performances by notable bands such as the Super Furry Animals and showcases a variety of music, poetry, and dance. The festival's creative director, Marc Rees, has revived the historical figure Lord Rhys as a 5-meter puppet, touring the area to promote the event. The Eisteddfod is a long-standing tradition in Wales, dating back to 1176, and continues to evolve with modern influences while maintaining its cultural roots.
