Russian Ceasefire in Ukraine Fails as Drone Strikes Continue
Despite a Kremlin-declared ceasefire over the Orthodox Easter weekend, Russian forces continued to strike Ukrainian positions with drones, according to Ukrainian military sources. The ceasefire, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, was intended to halt hostilities from Saturday afternoon until the end of Sunday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had expressed readiness to adhere to the ceasefire, viewing it as a potential step towards peace. However, Ukrainian forces reported ongoing drone attacks, casting doubt on the effectiveness of the truce. The ceasefire was meant to pause attacks on energy infrastructure, but previous attempts at such truces have often failed, with both sides accusing each other of violations.
