Humanoid Robot Lightning Surpasses Human Half-Marathon Record in Beijing
A humanoid robot named Lightning, developed by the Chinese smartphone company Honor, has set a new milestone by completing a half-marathon in Beijing in just over 50 minutes. This achievement surpasses the human world record for the same distance, which stands at over 57 minutes. The event, known as the Beijing E-Town Robot Half Marathon, featured dozens of robots competing separately from human runners. The race tested various capabilities of the robots, including balance, endurance, and navigation, with some operating autonomously and others being remotely controlled. Despite some robots experiencing technical difficulties, such as veering off course or breaking down, the overall performance marked significant progress compared to previous years.
