Three Individuals Charged in Attempted Cocaine Smuggling into Iceland
The District Prosecutor in Iceland has charged two men and one woman with attempted major drug offenses stemming from an incident in 2024. The indictment alleges that the trio conspired to import 1,039.69 grams of cocaine, with a purity of 88-89%, into Iceland for distribution and profit. The drugs were concealed within a postal package sent from France on August 26, 2024, addressed under another person's name. French customs authorities intercepted the package, and Icelandic police subsequently took possession of it, replaced the cocaine with dummy material, and delivered the package. The woman collected the package in Reykjavík on September 17, 2024, and handed it over to one of the men. The woman was also charged with possessing amphetamine, Rivotril, Imovane, Pregabalin Accord, and pepper spray, while one of the men faced additional charges for possessing MDMA, gas weapons, tear-gas weapons, brass knuckles, an electric weapon, bladed weapons, and various anabolic steroids.
