The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which has been in place for nearly 14 years, is facing significant challenges under the Trump administration. Originally designed to protect young immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, the program now sees its recipients, often referred to as 'DACA kids,' grappling with uncertainty as they have grown into adults with established lives in the U.S. The administration has been criticized for slowing down the processing of DACA renewals, stripping benefits, and even detaining and deporting some recipients.
