Pennsylvania Increases K-12 Education Funding, Opening New Opportunities for Schools
Pennsylvania has approved a new state budget that significantly increases funding for K-12 education. The budget allocates $8.3 billion for general education and $1.6 billion for special education, marking increases of $58 million and $55 million, respectively. Additionally, $565 million is designated for a supplemental payment program to support historically underfunded schools. This budget, passed nearly on time, contrasts with previous years' delays that forced districts to take short-term loans. The budget also includes policy reforms related to cyber charter schools and standardized testing.
