President Trump's Deportation Policies Linked to Rising Prices and Economic Contraction, Report Finds
A report by the pro-immigration advocacy group America's Voice has linked President Trump's mass deportation agenda to rising costs in groceries, homes, and healthcare, as well as contractions in local economies. The report, which analyzed federal price data over 12 months ending in June, highlights significant price increases in products heavily reliant on immigrant labor, such as lettuce, canned fruit, and fresh citrus. The report also notes that construction employment has declined in states heavily dependent on immigrant labor, while home healthcare costs have risen. The report calls for an end to what it terms the 'ICE Tax,' a reference to the economic impact of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's actions. The findings come amid a broader political debate over immigration policy, with 60% of respondents in a recent survey disapproving of Trump's economic management.
