Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada Ends Collaboration with Petition Signatories Over Bolloré Influence Concerns
Maxime Saada, the Chair and CEO of Canal+, has announced that the company will cease working with individuals who signed the 'Time To Switch-Off Bolloré' petition. This petition, launched during the Cannes Film Festival, criticizes Vincent Bolloré's increasing control over the French media and entertainment sectors. The petition, signed by 600 cinema professionals, including notable figures like Juliette Binoche and directors Arthur Harari and Bertrand Mandico, expresses concern over Bolloré's influence, particularly following Canal+'s acquisition of a significant stake in UGC, a major French cinema chain. The signatories fear that Bolloré's control could lead to a right-wing, reactionary agenda in French media. Saada, addressing the issue at a Canal+ producers' lunch, stated that the petition was an injustice to Canal+ teams and that collaboration with the signatories would no longer continue.
