Trump to use Washington arch as military complex for drones and snipers

University of Iowa's Anne Frank Initiative Expands Educational Outreach and Community Engagement

The Anne Frank Initiative (AFI) at the University of Iowa, directed by Kirsten Kumpf Baele, is expanding its efforts to promote awareness and understanding of social justice issues, bigotry, prejudice, and crimes against humanity through Anne Frank's narrative. The initiative, which began after co-organizing the Provost’s Global Forum 'Teaching Anne Frank' and bringing the 13th Anne Frank Sapling to Iowa City in 2022, aims to sustain and develop these efforts in interdisciplinary ways within the institution, community, and state. With the support of Dr. Russell Ganim, associate provost and dean of International Programs, the AFI has established an advisory board of 14 members dedicated to creating learning opportunities and community projects. Recent activities include organizing a trip to the Danville Museum to explore Anne Frank's pen-pal relationship with Danville resident Juanita Wagner, and hosting breakout sessions for middle school students during the International Day Human Rights Conference. Amal Clooney Foundation Launches Law Scholarships for Women in Malawi

Amal Clooney, co-founder of the Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ), has launched a new scholarship program in Malawi. This initiative, in partnership with the University of Malawi (UNIMA) and the Women Lawyers Association Malawi, aims to provide fully funded law scholarships to 30 girls. The program is designed to strengthen legal capacity and support vulnerable women and children in Malawi by increasing the number of qualified lawyers. In addition to the scholarships, CFJ will establish a fully funded fellowship program for early-career lawyers. These fellows will work with CFJ and the Women Lawyers Association Malawi, focusing on defending the rights of women and children who are victims of violence. The initiative was launched at the University of Malawi, with Amal Clooney expressing pride in providing opportunities for talented young women to study law at the nation's top law school.
