Montana Family Shooting Claims Eight Lives, Including Four Children, Following Request for Shooter to Leave Home
A tragic family shooting incident in Billings, Montana, resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including four children. The victims were identified as Megan Ghekiere, her two children Owen Ireland (13) and Chloe Ireland (7), and her two stepchildren Landon Ghekiere (15) and Charlotte Ghekiere (12). Also killed were Alan Smith's parents, Dana and Barb Smith, and his grandmother Evelyn. The shooter, 44-year-old Alan Smith, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Brad Ireland, Megan Ghekiere's ex-husband and father to Owen and Chloe, Smith had been asked by his parents to leave their home weeks prior to the incident. The Billings Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting an active shooting, with gunshots heard from the back of the house, which subsequently became engulfed in flames.
