Gary Schools Launch Community Gardens Initiative to Enhance Learning and Community Engagement
The Gary Community School Corporation has initiated a School & Community Gardens Initiative aimed at creating hands-on learning spaces across all schools in the district. This initiative is designed to provide students, families, and community members with opportunities to engage in gardening activities that promote learning, skill-building, and community bonding. The gardens will serve as living classrooms where participants can learn about health, sustainability, and community through guided lessons on planting, maintaining, and harvesting crops. The initiative is supported by partnerships with Master Gardeners and local community organizations, offering workshops and demonstrations to enhance the educational experience.
