Cleveland Opens Mandel Community Trail, Enhancing Lakefront Access and Connectivity
Cleveland has officially opened the Mandel Community Trail, a 2.7-mile off-road pathway along the city's east side lakefront, connecting E. 9th and E. 55th streets. This project is a collaborative effort involving Cuyahoga County, Cleveland Metroparks, and the City of Cleveland. The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation contributed $5 million, with an additional $5.6 million from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) through the Federal Highway Administration’s Carbon Reduction Program, alongside local matching funds from Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland. The trail fills a critical gap in the Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway, providing safe access for pedestrians and cyclists from neighborhoods like St. Clair-Superior and Glenville to lakefront destinations such as the E. 55th Street Marina, the Patrick S.
