Malcolm X College to Name Community Center After U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis
Malcolm X College (MXC) and City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) are set to honor U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis by naming the new community center at Malcolm X College West Campus (MXCW) after him. The official naming ceremony is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026. This recognition is for Congressman Davis's decades of support for the City Colleges of Chicago, Malcolm X College, and the residents of Chicago's West Side. Since 1997, Congressman Davis has represented Illinois's 7th congressional district, which encompasses significant portions of western Chicago and downtown areas. He is acknowledged for his extensive service in local and federal government, his work on health and social support policy, and his deep community ties in Chicago. The new community center is part of a $17.5 million investment that expands the Malcolm X College West Campus, adding 3,000 square feet for training and learning, and is designed to serve both the college and the surrounding Austin and Garfield Park neighborhoods.
