Rashida Tlaib Praises New Mosque in Dearborn Heights for Community Service Role
A new Islamic campus, the Imam Al-Hasanain Mosque, has opened in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, serving the growing Muslim community in Metro Detroit. The mosque, part of the Islamic Institute of America, spans nearly 60,000 square feet and can accommodate over 1,100 worshippers. It includes various facilities such as classrooms, cultural rooms, and a large event hall. U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib praised the mosque's leadership, emphasizing the role of religious institutions in supporting vulnerable people and strengthening community ties. The mosque plans to offer counseling, family support, health initiatives, and possibly a medical clinic for uninsured residents. The opening ceremony was attended by diverse religious and community leaders, highlighting the area's religious diversity.
