Social Security Administration Adjusts August 2026 Payment Schedule for SSI Recipients
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced the payment schedule for August 2026, affecting recipients of both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Regular Social Security beneficiaries will receive their payments according to the standard schedule, which is based on their birthdate and the date they began receiving benefits. However, SSI recipients will not receive a payment in August 2026. This is due to the fact that the first day of August falls on a Saturday, prompting the SSA to issue the payment on the preceding business day, July 31, 2026. This adjustment is in line with SSA's policy to issue payments on the last business day before a weekend or federal holiday. SSI provides financial support to individuals who are 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability, and who meet specific income and asset requirements.
