U.S. Congress Hosts International Legislator Exchange Program in Washington D.C.
A delegation of Members of Parliament from various countries, including Vietnam, Armenia, and Papua New Guinea, is participating in the World Open Programme, a legislator-to-legislator exchange fully funded by the U.S. Congress. The first week of the program is being held in Washington D.C., where the delegates are receiving an orientation on American federalism. They are also touring the U.S. Capitol and the Library of Congress, and meeting with Members of Congress who serve on the Pacific Islands Caucus and related committees. Among the U.S. representatives they are meeting are Jill Tokuda of Hawaii, Ted Lieu of California, Ronny Jackson of Texas, and Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. This initiative aims to provide international lawmakers with a firsthand understanding of American legislative processes and governance.
