Tokyo Fire Department Responds to Alleged Substance Spray Incident in Ginza, Over 20 Hospitalized
In Tokyo's upscale Ginza shopping district, an incident involving an unknown substance led to over 20 individuals being hospitalized. The Tokyo Fire Department reported that 26 people experienced sudden throat pain and discomfort near the Ginza Six shopping complex. The symptoms were mild, and all but one affected individual were taken to the hospital. The incident prompted a significant emergency response, with fire engines and ambulances deployed, and roads temporarily closed. Authorities are investigating the situation, with initial reports suggesting the substance might have been pepper spray, as traces were found on a wall. Witnesses described a strong odor and discomfort, with some individuals experiencing throat pain and coughing.
