Taylor Farms Recalls Iceberg Lettuce Amid Cyclosporiasis Outbreak Affecting Taco Bell
Taylor Farms has announced a voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico after it was linked to a significant cyclosporiasis outbreak in the United States. The outbreak, which began in May, has affected at least 1,644 people across 34 states, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifying the lettuce as a source of the illness. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has traced the outbreak to a specific supplier, Taylor Farms de Mexico, and advised consumers to avoid eating shredded iceberg lettuce from Mexico at Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Taco Bell has responded by removing the affected lettuce from its restaurants nationwide. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) continues to investigate, with the potential for more states, restaurants, or products to be implicated as new information emerges.
