Ohio Nonagenarian Triggers Wellness Check While Engrossed in Video Games
A 91-year-old woman in Westlake, Ohio, caused concern when she failed to respond to multiple wellness check calls. The town's automated service, designed for seniors living alone, flagged the situation after the woman did not answer several consecutive calls on the evening of April 9. Her daughter, alerted by the dispatcher, confirmed that her mother should have been home. Police officers were dispatched to her residence and, upon receiving no response at the door, entered through the garage. Inside, they found the woman safe and sound, deeply engaged in playing video games in her bedroom. The incident ended on a light-hearted note, with Westlake police Capt. Jerry Vogel noting that everyone involved found humor in the situation.
