Singapore Launches Hydrogen Fuel Cell Harbor Craft Pilot to Advance Marine Fuel Technology
A consortium including ABS, Marinteknik Shipbuilders, SeaTech Solutions International, and VINSSEN has initiated a research collaboration to develop hydrogen fuel cell-powered harbor craft in Singapore. The project aims to assess the feasibility of using hydrogen as a marine fuel through desktop studies focusing on vessel design, techno-economic analysis, and risk assessment. The initiative is part of Singapore's broader efforts to decarbonize its fleet of approximately 1,600 harbor craft, with the potential for a second phase involving construction and sea trials of the vessel.
