Airlines Engage with ICE Over Increased Arrests at Airports, Raising Business Concerns
Major U.S. airlines are in discussions with the Trump administration regarding a noticeable increase in immigration arrests at airports. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified efforts to detain illegal immigrants, particularly those with expired visas, at airport checkpoints. This has led to concerns within the aviation industry about the potential negative impact on business and passenger experience. Airlines 4 America, a trade association representing major airlines, confirmed ongoing talks with ICE and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to ensure that law enforcement activities at airports are conducted with proper protocols to maintain safety and security. The increased ICE presence at airports is part of a broader initiative by the White House to ramp up arrests of illegal immigrants, with daily arrests reaching 1,600 nationwide.
