Cathay Pacific to Launch First Central Asia Route with Flights to Kazakhstan
Cathay Pacific has announced plans to launch its first route to Central Asia, offering nonstop flights between Hong Kong and Almaty, Kazakhstan, starting in early 2027. This new service will operate three times a week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The announcement was made during a visit to Kazakhstan by a delegation from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, led by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu. The move is part of Cathay's strategy to enhance connectivity with countries involved in China's Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to improve infrastructure and trade links across Asia. The airline's entry into Central Asia comes amid a broader trend of increasing air links between Kazakhstan and Greater China.
